Teaching Children to Write Poetry is Fun

Teaching Children can write poems to be done if the steps are broken. Children learn best when it is accomplished simply and easily. Basically everything you need to do is show children how to rhyme words and then together. Here are 6 methods.

1. Write a list of words to write. On the board or at home on a piece of paper a list of words that rhyme. An example would be: try, high, fly, kite, night, fun, running, hiking, home, etc. Next have the children arrange somethe words in a sentence.

2. Recite to them. Write a few sentences you come with, or select some of the children and recite. In this way they can hear rhyming words. Make the sentences of fun.

3. Read the Bible. The Bible is written in prose and is the most widely read book in the world. Tip: Read parts of the Bible and discuss with children why it rhymes. Have the children try to imitate some of the verses. Poems must not be real.

4. PoemsPets. Try with the children write a poem about their favorite animal. You can also write poems about their grandparents. The aim is to help them relate what they are doing on a poem.

5. Rhyming games. An effective method for teaching children to use poetry, games. Nursery rhymes are some of the first poetry we hear. You may know some of these to the children and stamping their feet and clap to the rhythmic pattern they hear. Be ready for someNoise, but this is very effective.

6. Music. Play different musical selection and show how the lyrics blend like the words in the poems. Often there are rhymes used. This will help the older children more interested in poetry, when they realize that their favorite band to keep many forms of prose in her music.
